Fish Oil Side Effects

Published by admin at 5:58 pm under Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplements

A lot of people worry about the side effects of taking a fish oil supplement, particularly things like having fishy breath.

Providing you use a high quality fish oil supplement you should not experience this problem. The cheaper fish oil supplements on the market tend not to use base ingredients which are as fresh as they could be which often results in a very unpleasant after effect for the consumer, to put it bluntly “fishy burps”, which as you will appreciate are not pleasant.

Having said that there are a couple of groups of people for whom Fish Oil Supplements may not always be  recommended and medical advice should be sought before taking them. These are people who suffer from hemophilia and also people who may already be taking some form of blood thinning medication.

Some people will very rarely experience diarrhoea, heartburn, and nausea. Due to the blood thinning effect of fish oil there is also the possibility of occasional nosebleeds as well as easy bruising. However these side effects were  experienced by people who were taking very large daily doses sometimes  up to 12 grams, which is not a  recommended dosage.

Those people who take a good quality highly refined Fish Oil Supplement should experience little or no side effects.

Over all the benefits of high quality DHA / EPAFish Oil Supplements far outweigh the very slight chance of side effects.
